Why we fail as a nation. (Fictional)
By the time we reached there, the stadium was almost full..with very less seats left to our right side, we decided that we'll be listening to Imran Khan's speech whilst standing..The atmosphere was not of any ordinary 'Jalsas' which used to take place here in Lahore.. We could feel it.. It was something. different.. Maybe a chapter of history being written with Golden ink.
At last, the 'Kaptaan' himself was there, standing, waving, smiling. He had the charisma which others didn't, the charisma to inspire the youth of this nation, mainly because he being the only Pakistani captain to win a "World Cup". "Mere Pakistaniou (My Pakistani's)" , he shouted, making the crowd roar like Lions (incidentally, Vote symbol of his opponent party). ... "Pakistaniou, aaj tum logon ko kuch baatain bataoun? (Pakistanis , shall I tell you something today?)".. bringing the stadium to a stand-still. It felt like as if someone have switched off their volumes.
He continued , saying he'd be saying three things about this nation, THREE REASONS WHY THIS NATION FAILS.
- We don't have self belief. We never believe ourselves, even if we know we are right, we just keep thinking negatively. If we believe in ourselves we are half way there. It is not about how we are going to do it. It is about why we are going to do it. If its for our own good, then we must succeed, otherwise we can say 'we tried'.
- We can not face our problems. If someone tells us what's wrong with our culture, or the way we preach our religion, we can't face it, indirectly they are our problems. We can not face what's right for us. We'd rather run away like a cat, rather than face it like a lion (laughs).
- We can not provide religious freedom. Yes, we are a secular country, our founder allowed all the different faith practicing individuals or minorities to live their life their way. We have no right to disturb them, or call them names. It is the lord who decides.. Secondly, this is an Islamic State for those who believe that they are muslims. Not for those who are Muslims
I was happy, realizing that "Imran Khan" the Kaptaan believes in a secular Pakistan. Where everyone can practice their own religion. As an Ahmadi Muslim, it meant alot. Listening to a Pakistani politician talk about a secular county is as rare as finding a well in a desert. Jalsa over. No Suicide Bombs, Thank God.
On our way back.. we heard some arrogant mullah call out loud "Qadiyani Kafir" .. and we realised the reason why our nation is not progressing but failing.
