Gender Equality ; as Islam teaches it
"I shall not lose sight of the labor of any of you who labors in My way, be it man or women; each of you is equal to the other (3:195)"
Hadith of At-tirmithi , the true kinds of believers and their actions |
As we all
know, Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance.. What others
don't know, well most of them don't know is that Islam also teaches
the Equality.. The most important one being the "Gender
Equality" .
Gender Equality is one
of the most debated topic in the current era. Western governments and nations say that they are first ones to bring this topic up. Well, they are wrong, Muslims were taught to treat men and women equally. Women were given the highest rank , as Prophet Muhammad said "Heaven is under the feet your mother" - The rank they could not think of in those days, the days when they were mistreated, used , abused. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stood up and raised the value of women within the society, he himself showed others how to treat a woman. He himself was leading a group of Muslims, who believed that Women are the blessings of Lord, The Almighty Allah. Allah, himself ordered the Muslims to treat everyone equally, and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) practiced it.
Islam has given women equal rights. They can decide their faith, their future, their lives, no one stops them as long as they don't cross the limit. (same goes for men). On the other hand, men are ordered to respect the privacy and dignity of a woman, be it their mother, sister or any other woman. Men are also the protectors of their opposite gender. Islam not only order men to respect the women of their faith, but of all other faiths too. Sadly, that's not what is happening in different Muslims states.
"Say to the believers, that they cast down their eyes and guard their private parts; that is purer for them ....And say to the believing women, that they cast down their eyes and guard their private parts ...."( Quran 24:30‑31)
There is no message better than the message of Quran. No order better than the order of Quran. Let's follow the Orders of Quran and respect all the genders, as they are all equal in the sight of our Lord, Allah.
To be continued....
Masha'Allah, well written blog. You should include some examples of strong Muslim women through the ages. From the time of the Holy Prophet saw till now. Maybe this piece needs a second part.keep writing. .
